Course Overview

Physical and emotional well-being is enhanced with mindfulness meditation, science tells us. It becomes transformational when combined with the practice of Internal family systems (IFS); a cutting-edge evidence-based modality quickly gaining in popularity. In this course, you will gain an understanding of IFS and mindfulness meditation. You will learn how to practice these two modalities: exploring your inner world, recognizing parts, and revealing your authentic Self. You will learn how to develop a trusting and healing internal relationship with all aspects of yourself.

This course is perfect for you if you want to learn a practice that will bring more serenity and happiness into your life.

Course Objectives

After completion of this four-week course, the participant will be able to:

·       Gain an understanding of the basic principles and practices of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model.

·       Learn about mindfulness meditation and how to incorporate a meditation practice into one’s life.

·       Practice mindfulness meditation combined with IFS.

·       Recognize the various types of parts in our internal system.

·       Learn IFS unblending techniques that reveal our authentic Self.

·       Develop trusting relationships with our internal parts from the healing energy of our authentic Self.

·       Understand the benefits and learn techniques for developing present moment awareness.

·       Develop a personal daily mindful IFS practice.

This course will consist of four 1.5-hour sessions to be held online. It will be taught by a practitioner with certifications in both Internal Family Systems and mindfulness meditation.

Session #1:  What are Mindfulness Meditation and Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

We will discuss the principles and practices of IFS and mindfulness meditation. There will be instructions on the benefits of meditation and how to develop a meditation practice.

Session #2:    Connecting with Our Inner World

We will discuss more specifically IFS principles and practices when interacting with protectors and exiles. There will be a demonstration of an IFS session with a practitioner. Participants will be led in a meditation where they will explore one of their protectors.

Session #3:    Experiencing Our Self and the R.E.S.T. Meditation

We will discuss in depth IFS’s experience of Self. Our authentic Self is experienced when parts of us “unblend”. We will discuss and practice unblending techniques.

The R.E.S.T. meditation is an acronym for the IFS steps to building trusting and transformational relationships with our internal parts. The R.E.S.T. meditation will be explained and then participants will be led in the meditation.

Session #4:    Developing a Daily Mindful IFS Practice

We will discuss what comprises a mindful IFS practice, the benefits of these practices, and the different types of practices that strengthen the muscle of mindfulness. We will then practice two mindfulness exercises.
